A performative – site specific approach to Prishtina and its history

In the workshop >Re/en/action< the city becomes a stage for artistic interventions. During three days Prishtina’s public space will be explored with the two artists Verena Ries and Janne Schäfer as a playful and artistic platform for interventions. After a theoretical introduction on site specific artistic approaches, small groups will work on short performances – so called reenactments – about Prishtina and its history. These performances will be documented in photographs and publicly shown at 9th May at 16.00 in Theatre Dodona.

The workshop is led by the two German artists Verena Ries and Janne Schäfer, which work interdisciplinary (theatre and visual art) together. The workshop is opened for students of arts or theatre (directors, dramaturges, playwrights) or other interested people. If you are interested, please apply till the 30th April 2010 at:

Verena Ries studied cultural sciences and theatre theory and practice in Hildesheim, Germany, and performance art at the Dartington School of Arts, England. She works as a theatre pedagogue at several theatres in Berlin and has a main focus on site specific and documentary theatre.

Janne Schäfer studied art at the Chelsea College of Art and at the Camberwell College of Art & Design in London. Since ten years she works together with the Danish artist Kristine Agergaard as the artistic duo J&K ( Her works have been shown at different exhibitions and galleries in Germany and other countries.
